What the 7th edition added

PRINCE2 7 added people as an integrated element — change management, culture, leadership and team development placed at the centre of the model — and made sustainability a performance target alongside time, cost, quality, scope, benefits and risk.

Why it is like this

The previous editions managed products well and said almost nothing about the people producing them or the environmental cost, both of which had become the source of most project failures and most new reporting duties.

Not to be confused with

A soft-skills appendix. Sustainability is a target with tolerances, planned and reported like any other, which means it appears in the business case and in progress reporting.

In practice

The seven performance targets are now: benefits, cost, quality, risk, scope, time and sustainability.
